Acrylic and latex paint with flowing yellow and blue drips over a predominantly blue background. Vibrant streaks of red and orange add contrast, creating a dynamic abstract composition with layered textures and bold color contrasts.

Authenticity vs Marketability.

I was fairly new to the medium of drippy, fluid latex, but had some sincere fun and success with the paintings I’d made with it. They sold before I could really advertise them and I began to wonder “Is this the style I’ll be known for”? People really liked these works, but I wanted to keep experimenting. Blue Opportunity was a set that felt very genuine to make but so close to the line of what people want that it made me uncomfortable. These pieces emit joy and spontaneity, but the title alludes to the feeling of being too close to that line for comfort.
