Abstract acrylic on linen canvas painting with rich, layered shades of dark red, brown, and yellow. Textured brushstrokes create a rugged, intense composition, with pops of yellow-green and blue adding depth and contrast to the dark, moody tones.

I was a budding artist, well, more like newly planted; I was broke and eager to express myself which meant gathering materials and finding my style however I could afford to. This linen canvas and I found each other in an antique store. The type to have piles, not displays, and negotiations, not price tags. I couldn’t afford linen and admired those who could, so I downplayed my eagerness and asked what the shopkeeper wanted for this “old painting”.

When I got it home I cherished it and wanted to paint something amazing on it. I had been playing with new techniques and tools and wanted to try my hand at something more “serious”. My goal was to paint something worthy of the canvas.
