That night at The Milford House was beautiful. The usually quiet dining room was filled with the sounds of a classical cellist, and the mood reminded me of a style I don’t usually paint in. What feels more traditional than a boat out at sea and the view it has at sunrise and sunset?
Since I couldn’t get this picture out of my mind I started painting a very very loose horizon, and darkness as I envisioned the sea bouncing quietly all around me. The sky had to be vibrant and yet subtle, so the layers bounced from sunny to moody and made it come alive.
The silver paint used on the lower half makes for perfect shimmery waves as the light hits it just right as you walk by.
