A choice had to be made; purchase a collection of my paintings or go to the Super Bowl to watch their team play (and hopefully win).

The score was Erika 1 Super Bowl 0. The client decided my work was a better value than the Super Bowl and so instead of mourning the missed event he commissioned me to commemorate his decision into a painting.

This was Super Bowl LVI in California and the halftime show was an epic California based collection of Rap and Hip Hop legends - Snoop Dog, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar.

The stage was a sprawling scene inspired by a street of various shops, all in white, and these golden legends, who all started from grit and grind, moved from scene to scene reminding us of just how and why they are so great.

The white is for the stage, the gold is for the standard these artists have risen to and set, the black is for the gritty beginning they all had, and the silver and bronze are another nod to the California coast with its perfectly diverse offerings, income levels, opportunities, and landscape.
